Philip M. McKenney initially joined the firm in 1998. Mr. McKenney practiced with the firm until 2006 when he left the firm to practice complex high value plaintiffs’ cases in Arizona. In 2009, he rejoined the firm. His practice focuses on civil litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants.

Mr. McKenney was born and raised in McHenry County, Illinois near Chicago. He graduated from the University of Texas-El Paso in 1987 with honors earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Following college he attended Creighton University School of Law located in Omaha, Nebraska where he graduated Cum Laude in 1996. In law school he was a member of the Editorial Staff of the Creighton Law Review and was also the author of a published article in this prestigious publication. In 1996, Mr. McKenney was admitted to the Bar in the State of California and is currently admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Central Districts of California, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. In 2007, he was admitted to the Bar in the State of Arizona and is currently admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Mr. McKenney is also admitted to practice in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeal.

Mr. McKenney maintains a civil and business litigation practice in both State and Federal court. Most recently, Mr. McKenney focused on high value complex plaintiffs’ cases in the areas of wrongful death and civil rights litigation, including his participation in a complex case in Federal court resulting in a $3 million settlement for the family of a 15 year-old boy fatally shot by the police in Mesa, Arizona.  Mr. McKenney also had a successful settlement of one of his real property cases featured on the CBS News program “48 Hours.”

Mr. McKenney is experienced in civil jury trials and bench trials and has handled appellate matters, including arguing before the Fourth District Court of Appeal in California. Mr. McKenney is known as a no nonsense tough litigator who fights vigorously for his clients to achieve successful outcomes.
